Our top 5 tips for running the colour run

Returning to the UAE once again, The Colour Run is back and will be at Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi, on Saturday 29th March 2014.

The Colour Run, also known as the Happiest 5km on the Planet, is a unique paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness, individuality, and giving back to the community.

This event is about participants of all different speeds, ages, shapes and sizes, everyone is welcome to the start line. Whether you are a casual morning mall walker or an Olympic athlete, The Colour Run course promises to be the most exciting 5km of fun you will ever witness.

Our top five tips:

1.Bring a towel to cover your car seat when returning home. The colour is made from corn starch and can be difficult to remove.

2.Wear sunglasses and make sure to cover your mouth when running through the colour panels. Getting it in your mouth or eyes is extremely unpleasant.

3.Cover your phone/camera: you’ll want to bring it to take pictures, but wrap it tightly in clear plastic or put it in a Ziploc bag before the race – you don’t want any of that powder paint (made of corn starch) to get stuck in the lens.

4.Use shampoo to wash the colours off yourself afterward. It’s the sodium laureth sulfate contained in most conventional shampoos that does the trick. It works much better than normal soap and gets the stains out of your skin easily.

5.Skip the designer labels and stick to an outfit (including shoes) that you won’t mind transforming into an art canvas.

You can now register online to participate as a runner or as a volunteer at http://www.thecolourrun.ae/Abu-Dhabi
