There are way too many “healthy” cookbooks that use weird ingredients such as artificial sweeteners and fat-free dairy, which are not actually healthy at all.
After reading Giada De Laurentiis’ Feel Good Food, we know for a fact how fun and creative her recipes are, as they are filled with great flavour combinations. And we love how she creates her own twist on the classics. Instead of printing the standard Miso/Ginger-Soy Salmon that a lot of the diet cookbooks tend to include, she came up with the Grilled Salmon with a Pineapple and Avocado dressing, which has the crunchiness from the seared salmon, the sweet and tanginess from the pineapple, and the creaminess from the avocado dressing.
Giada sticks to her standard recipe style, which also seems to incorporate slightly sweet, tangy, or crunchy components to them. We love how she loves adding fruits, citrus zest/juice, and toasted nuts into her dishes, which we truly seem to enjoy as it adds a freshness and lightness to her dishes. Another interesting fact about the book is how De Laurentiis has taken the time to include a combination of proteins, carbs, and fats in her recipes. We absolutely love how her recipes are bursting with healthy grains, veggies, and lean protein. Combine that with a low-fat yet creamy dressing, the tanginess of fruits, and perhaps a bit of crunch from the vegetables and nuts, and you have a “wholesome” meal that is bursting with nutrients and flavour.
All in all, we would highly recommend this cookbook to anyone who is interested in healthy cooking and who wouldn’t compromise on flavour and enjoyment.
