Movie Review: Bourne to Kill!

The Bourne Trilogy has always been one of the most action packed series in Hollywood. The trilogy opened with “The Bourne Identity” in 2002, which received a whopping 7.9 rating on IMDB – which is considered an extremely high rating for a film with action as its genre. The trilogy continued with “The Bourne Supremacy” (2004), “The Bourne Ultimatum” (2007) and “The Bourne Legacy” (2012). This year the fifth sequel of the trilogy was released – Jason Bourne.
Directed by Paul Greengrass, Jason Bourne received acclamations all over the world for being a brilliant action movie and a perfect continuation of an already successful series. The movie is rated PG-15 because of intense sequences of violence and action, and brief strong language. Matt Damon acts as Jason Bourne, the main character of the movie.
Jason Bourne has rediscovered secrets of his past – secrets involving the “accidental” death of his father. Bourne discovers that his father was involved in some of the government’s corrupt work which he wanted to expose. He confronted the government and was actually murdered by them. This news hadn’t surfaced for 12 years but Jason Bourne was determined to discover how his father died and that is when he discovers the government’s involvement in the death. He is now on a mission to avenge his father’s death by taking down the corrupt officials in the CIA and exposing their dark operations to the outside world.
The goal of the directors was to achieve USD 50 million on the opening weekend. Unsurprisingly, for a movie belonging to the Bourne trilogy, the movie’s earnings exceeded all expectations and earned a whopping USD 60 million on the opening weekend.
If I were to rate the movie on a scale of 5 (with 5 being exceptional), I would give it a rating of 4.5. The graphics, sets, plots and action scenes really keep the viewers captivated till the very end of the movie. Jason Bourne is a must watch!
